Validate syntax before publishing

A valid XML shape makes a sitemap easier to review. This browser check reports the exact entry and corrective explanation when it finds a problem, then lets you keep the usable URL list.

  • Supports urlset and sitemapindex documents.
  • Checks absolute HTTP(S) loc values and duplicate URLs.
  • Shows cross-host URLs as context, not automatic errors.
  • Rejects DTD and entity declarations for safe local parsing.

What does this sitemap validator check?

It checks well-formed XML, the urlset or sitemapindex root and sitemap namespace, absolute HTTP(S) loc values, duplicate URLs, and supported date syntax. Optional fields are reviewed when present.

Does the tool fetch my sitemap URLs?

No. The XML is parsed in your browser. The tool does not fetch URLs or report reachability, indexing, ranking, or search visibility.

What file size can I validate here?

This browser tool accepts up to 5 MiB per paste or file. The sitemap protocol allows up to 50 MB uncompressed, so a larger sitemap needs another validation workflow.
